Makeup Revolution Haul

I love makeup. Unfortunately, my budget is very limited at the moment, which is not good for this love affair of mine.
A few months ago, I got to try a few products by Makeup Revolution, and I knew immediately that I was before a brand that was not only cheap, but with great quality too! And we know how rare that is!

Last week, one of my favourite online stores for beauty products, Perfumaria Primor, was having a "buy 3, pay 2" deal in most of its brands, and I decided it was the perfect time to buy a few goodies. I really wanted to try some of  Makeup Revolution 1£ products, and these were the ones I chose:

- Pure Pigments on "Etiquette" and "Agonise" - Such a nice color pay-of! Etiquette is like a muted lilac browny color, and Agonise is a rich copper color.

- Lipsitck in "Treat" - My lips but better color. It kind of reminds my of a Kylie Jenner kind-of-color...

- Powder blush in "Love" - a soft baby pink color, great for days you dont want your cheeks to stand out.

- Eyeshadow in "Hung Up" - A matte light brown color, that I personally love to use on my whole lid with a massive cat liner.

And this was my litte purchase. I am yet to try these on a propper makeup look yet, would you like some swatches then?

Parfois Flower Cufs

Parfois Flower ear cufs, 6,99€

In busy mornings, I usually forget to put on my acessories. Yeah, that's a major no-no for a self-proclaimed fashion lover, but truth be told, most mornings I'm just rushing to get out of my bedroom and its good enough if I'm fully dressed.
But I love shiny pretty things, such as earrings.
The problem with earring is that I dont find them very appealing with my face shape/loose hair combo. I usually go for short earrings, but sometimes you just want to look a little extra-extra, y'know?
That's why I fell in love with these babies. They're a statement piece, but they restringed to the ear are so they dont hang dangling all day in my neck, plus they don't make my face look all chubby. And boy, they look cute!
I guess we'll be very happy together this season.

A journey begins

As I've mentioned before, this year I will complete my master's degree, and intership in a psychology unit in a oncological hospital in my city.
As a matter of fact, I started it a few weeks ago!
I'm really loving every moment of the intership so far. I wake up in the morning excited to go to work because I'm really falling in love with the profession I chose. So far all I've learnt came from books, but let me tell, nothing compares to the joy of actually helping someone, especially if they're going through such a hard battle like cancer. I've met so many wonderfull people in these past few weeks, and they really help me to put my own problems in perspective.
I really love my job, and I'm looking forward to next months to see what the future holds for me.

Introducing: Marley

So, I told you guys about the loss of my beloved dog Suri in my last post.
What I did'nt tell you was that my house has now a new guest: Marley.

Some people may think it was a mindless decision to get a new dog so soon after losing Suri, and I agree (in part). But as soon as I heard the vet saying that my baby wasn't going to make it, I knew I had to get a new puppy to fill my heart. It's like those people who cling to their other children when they loose a child; the bad news was that I didn't have any other dogs to give my love to. And I knew, I just knew, I needed another puppy. To heal myself.

Also, we've been thinking of getting a male Yorkie for a long time. My mother was the most interested, since Suri was mine and she knew I would take her wit me once I moved out home. When she held baby Marley, she immediately looked at me and said "this is it!". She had chosen the name a long time ago too.
And that's the story of how, just a few days after my baby's departure, we brought Marley home.

Now, let me tell you, having a puppy is no easy task. Suri was already 10 months old when she was given to me, so training her (and by that I mean, potty training her) was a lot easier. Maybe the fact that she was a lady had something to do with it as well. But Marley... Good Lord, I've never washed so many carpets in my life!
This process can be a little exausting, especially when we were so used to a dog that never peed outside the designated place. Also, a puppy is wild by nature, and most of the times we scold him he just thinks we are playing with him. Right now, his favourite hobby has to be stealing a slipper , passing right in front me as if saying "Look what I can do!", and then sprint around the yard for me to catch him. Oh, and bite. Everything. He. Sees.

Here's Marley, chewing a green marker. Such a nerd, this dog

Does Marley repalce Suri? Of course not. Not even in a million years. But he's such a cute baby, smart and funny. And when he's tired enough, he can be quite cuddly.
It feels good to have a purpose again. And to have someone to give my love to, or it would go to waste.

You'll be in my heart

Hello everyone:

I know its been such a long time since I posted anything here, but he last days of summer were so terrible to me that I couldnt bare to do anything at all, including keeping this blog updated.

August 28th I lost my baby girl. She was the light of my eyes, one of the things I loved the most in this world, and her loss almost broke me. It was all so sudden, so quick, so unbelievably hard, that it took me over a month to be able to tell you about it.

Suri was my Yorkie puppy, a 3 year old cutie that filled my days with joy. Its not because she was mine, but I can tell you that no matter where we went, everyone would turn their heads to compliment my baby girl. But more than that, she knew the way to my heart like no one else, and sometimes she just felt more like a person that like a dog to me. She had such a strong personality, but at the same time she was so loyal and playfull...

Then, this horrible thursday after lunch, we were all home tending to our chores, and suddenly I heard my father screaming out for me. I came downstairs to find my mother trying to CPR my puppy, and then my parents were in the car racing to the veterinary. All in less than a minute.
Suri fell from the stairs she would climb every day, many times a day, and hit her head in the handrail. It was not the fall that killed her, but the traumatic injury on her head.
She kept on going for a few hours, but the vet was honest and told us that she would'nt make it. Even such a small fall was deathly to a 4lbs dog... The damage was too extensive for her to ever be healthy again - and let me tell you, I'm glad she didnt survive only to live with multiple organ and limb damages. It would be too selfish for me to ask that of her.

I've been through many hard moments throughout my life, including cancer and loss of loved ones, but this was by far the hardest thing I've suffered. I held on to my baby as she laid on the vet's table and I sang her Phill Collins's "You'll be in my heart". That song describes exactly what I feel about her, and I didnt knew any other way I could say goodbye.

I wish I could tell you that things were alright after that, but I can't. I cried all the time, every place brought me memories of Suri and her smell still lingered on every corner of our house. Sometimes, as I sit in my desk at my laptop, I look to my right and I swear I can still see her (she would always follow me around and curled up in a pillow next to me; if there was not a pillow around, she would bark to get my attention and I had to get her one). My boyfriend says that its normal that I feel her, because she truely is next to me. She wouldnt leave her momma, her best friend, alone in here. And I swear, I want to believe him so much!

Things are getting better, slowly. Life goes on, and the world doesnt even seems to notice that a big chunk of my heart is gone. I try me best to keep on going, but every pet owner who has lost a dog will know how hard it is...

Gel polish nails: a (very sad) story

Before going on holidays, my mother decided that she wanted to get gel nails so they would last the entire vacations and the wedding we were attending afterwards. Since my nails are super fragile and flaky, I chose not to get gel nails myself, since they have a reputation of ruining any real nail after they're removed.
But I went to the cosmetologist with my mother, and since theirs turned out so nice, I was caught in the heat of the moment and got gel nails  myself. I went for french manicure since they looked classic and polish and go with everything.

So far, so good.

The nails actually lasted a good 12 days, even though at some point some of them started to lift from the edges, but I resolved taht with a bit of clear polish.
The problem was the removal.
I was extra carefull and used a special file, but my nails ended up even more thin than before, and they seriously look all irregular on top, like someone scratched them.
So, would I recommend getting gel nails?

Well, if you dont like to do your nails yourself, if you dont mind paying to get them done twice a month and if you plan on wearing gel nails for a long period, the anwser is yes. But in my case, having so many nail polishes that I love, not having a lot of money to waste on manicures and having such fragile nails, this wasnt such a good idea. It makes me sad to think that before this my nails were getting so much better thanks to my beloved Mavala nail polish, and now they are even worse than before... Oh well, nothing to do now.
I wont be getting gel nails again, thats for sure.

A nude love affair

First of all, lets just take a second to notice my gently tanned legs. Done? Okay.

I found these babies on Stradivarius, and they were a major find in the sales department. I've been looking for the perfect pair of nude heels for so long, you can imagine how happy I was to get these - the last pair in my size!
And for just 9.99€, they're my sweathearts of the moment.

Back from paradise

So I'm back from my amazing holidays.
Its kind of a bittersweet feeling, actually - even though I missed my dog and my bed and my wardrobe (living out of a suitcase is not for me), I really miss hanging in the beach, the heat, being with my boyfriend 24/7... Oh well, lets better focus on the good memories I made.
These were one of my best holidays ever, the beach was awesome, the location chosen, the house we rented, the wedding we attended, and even the astronomic amount of food we ate!
And I managed to get a little bit of tan! Yay me for that, for no longer looking like a sick ghost!

Feeling lucky

I am a very happy bunny today!

Since I'm heading to Algarve in a few week for vacation with my family and boyfriend, I started planing the trip and the things I want to do while we're there. And one of the things that poped up was a visit to the biggest waterpark in the country.
The problem is the tickets are a little expensive - especially if you're still in school with no job, like me.
So, I decided to try my luck and enter a contest to win some tickets for me and my boyfriend. And guess what? I've just been told that I've won!

Many times, we are so stressed with everyday chores and problems that we forget to feel grateful for what we have. A little exercise I've been doing for a few years now is try to think about something positive and good about my day before I go to sleep... It helps me realize how lucky I am for all the good things in my life, for the nice people around me, for the little wonders that keep happening.
And even the smallest things -  like wining tickets to a place you really want to go - can make you feel really blessed.

Do you usually think about your day before going to sleep? What stands out: the good, or the bad moments?

Ebay picks

What a lovely day to share with you another of my Ebay purchases, right?

Last month or so, my aunt asked me if I could buy her a makeup brush set. She loves makeup but knows hardly nothing about it, and until recent times the only brushes sheknew were the sponge ones. She didnt want to spend a lot of money, though, and wanted a lot of brushes.
Now, I much rather have just a few very good brushes than a lot of useless, crappy ones, but once she saw this kit on the webapage, she made up her mind. And at 10€, the damage would not be very high... And so the order was made.

This 24 brush kit comes in a pink roll-up case - and for me, thats the cutest part of the set.

The brushes themselves are... How should I put it? They're crap. Yep, crap.
I've bought a lot of brushes on Ebay and almost always was happy with them. Yet, I always doubt these kits with many brushes. Thats 24 of them, of course, but many looked and felt just the same.

The face brushes are the best (or the less bad), very fluffy and soft. But the eye brushes are simply too thin, pricky, and a few oh them could be twins of so identical. And theres not even a decent blending brush in the kit!

My aunt didnt mind, though, since she's such a newby to themakeup world. Maybe in the future she'll want something better, and when that time comes I'll try and help her make a good choice.
Overall, this is not a good buy, even if the price is quite tempting. Other brushes on Ebay are far better and with very reasonable prices as well!

Would you like me to share some of those brushes with you?

Long time no see

Hi friends!

What a terrible blogger I've been, I know. The last few weeks were crazy, college work related, and that kept me away from the computer. Well, not from the computer, since I had to write a lot of papers, but from blogging mainly.
As you may know, I'm entering the last year of my master's degree, and with the interniship about to star and my thesis in progress, I've just been covered in work...
But it seems that it is all over now, and I can finnaly enjoy a bit of summer vacations.
Its been such a lovely weather here in Portugal lately, lots of sunshine and heat, and I'm yet to take my lovely feet to the beach (shame on me).

Anyway, I'll do my best to keep up with the blog. Pinky promise!
See you soon,

A whole hand of years

Today is me and my boyfriend's anniversary!

We've been together 5 years now. And what a journey it has been!

We've known each other since middle school, but started dating in high school (though we attended different schools). We've been together through many difficult times, and held each other up through the roughest of days.
But, even though things are not perfect all the time, he is my best friend, my biggest confident, the only who can make me smile even when my mood is like crap, and I love him to pieces.

I just hope the future will be kind on us, and that together we can make all of our dreams come true.

New in: crop tops

I told you this was bound to happen.
Just a few days after I wrote the post about my latest obsession, I went shopping and could not keep my hands away from these babies.
I tried them on with  a little disbelief at first, but was pleasently surprised to find that they actually looked good on me!

Now I just need a little sunshine to rock these babies out.

Book review: The night circus

Reading is one of the biggest pleasures I have.
Where I live, books are very expensive though. I used to buy them  from The Book depository before, since they were far cheaper, but since I bought a Kindle my life has changed. I've never read so much in my life, because books were never as accessible as they are now.
In fact, I love my Kindle so much, that the other day it wasnt working and I actually cried for a few minutes thinking it was broken. Turned out it just had ran out of battery.

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine from college, who is also quite a bookworm, recommended this book to me, since it was one of her favourites.
And let me tell you, it really is delicious.

The story revolves around Celia and Marco, who have been training their entire lives for a tournament they know very little about. Their mentors send them to a circus, but not just any circus: a magic circus, that takes place only at night. They end up falling in love, but their fates are much to tangled...

I wont spoil the whole story for you because I personally hate when somebody does that.
I'll just say it a enchanting book, with marvelous descriptions that we'll make you feel that you are actually in the circus yourself.
The love story is not the best you've ever read, and some situations seemed a little meh to me, but its still a very nice book to keep you company, to fantasize about and to devour with a cup of tea next to you.

What have you been reading lately?

Inspiration: Crop Top

I'm craving a crop top.
For long I thought that showing my belly button might make me look... well, a bit on the slutty side. Also, I never though crop tops would look well on me #bustygirlproblems.
But I think that if you combine them the right way - I'm thinking high waisted pants or skirts, blazers on top, maybe a kimono... -  it can look quite exquisite.
So, until I find the right one to bring home with me, here are some pictures to help me feel inspired:

All images are from Chicisimo.com

Ebay Picks #1

I love Ebay.

No, I'm not overstating this: I really love Ebay. My life changed since I started buying online. I'm mean, let's look at it this way: You read a lot of international blogs. You watch a lot of Youtube videos. You hear about brands that are not available nowhere near you, physically. And the more you know you dont have acces to those things, the more you crave them.

But unfortunately, Portugal stores can't year your crying and the brands you like never come to stores. And when they do, they cost a lot more than in other countries.
Thats where Intenet comes in!

Anyway, enough rambling.

I was telling you that I really like Ebay, not only because it allows me to get things that otherwise I could not get in stores, but also because if find such great deals in there. Cheap clothes and accesories, every girl's wonderland!

Of course the quality is not always the best. Well, I guess you get what you pay for. But for me quality is not a priority when it comes to a few statement, seasonal pieces.

The first thing I wanted to show its these pink high waisted shorts. Pastels are so in right now that I just had to get something pink for me. Nothing to do with pink being my favourite color, by the way.
Quality? Meh. The fabric is not the best, nor the cut. They are significantly different from the picture shown in thewebsite. But they were less than 5€, and I still thing I'll be wearing them a lot in summer.

Let's keep the pink theme here.
The second purchase its this fushia blouse. I really like chiffon blouses because they looks great tucked in jeans or skirts or shorts, and add a pop of color to any outfit.
Its just like the picture shown, and I happy with purchase.
The best part? It was only 3€.

Do you ever buy stuff on Ebay?
I'd love to know if you like these kind of posts, so let me know in the comments. Also, let me know if you want any of thelinks to these pieces!
